Yasujiro Ozu

Yasujiro Ozu (1903-1963) made films reflecting Japanese mores, often depicting a resigned, yet harmonious, lower middle-class family life.

Mr. Ozu said of his own work, "I have formulated my own directing style in my head, proceeding without any unnecessary imitation of others."
